WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT WOMEN PROJECT?
The Different Women Project (DWP) is dedicated to celebrating diversity and difference in the Performing Arts for women who don't quite fit the standard mould. It is a concept supported by a series of transmedia works and performance lectures aiming to approach the creative arts from a position of strength and empowerment in order to promote awareness and change.
It showcases the journeys and experiences of 'Different Women', in order to promote diversity and the understanding of other people's 'world view'.

WHY DID YOU FOUND THIS PROJECT?
Our industry has a huge diversity problem.
There are some huge elephants in the room no one wants to talk about- class, race, elitism, lack of resources and preparation in training for non -white performers, to name a few...
We can't expect anything to change until we help each other understand these issues and help prepare our students, educators, and performers to build a brighter, more representative future.
As a 'caramel' woman in between shades myself, I saw this massive need to showcase the average mixed race or coloured woman’s daily experience, but above all what it is like to be a woman that doesn't tick the conventional boxes.
It's my reasoning this will bring people into our world and help promote awareness and change.
I wanted to do it in a way that was accessible to people, through transmedia performance projects, lectures and community discussion.
